Trust and accountability for shared boat ownership
SharedVessels is built around the needs of small private groups who need transparency, clear records, and shared accountability — without the overhead of a formal business.
Photo inspections
SharedVessels helps groups document condition before and after each trip. Check-out and check-in inspections with photos give everyone a clear, time-stamped record. Pre-existing damage is logged and easy to reference if questions come up later.
Transparent expenses
Slip fees, insurance, fuel, winterization, and yard bills are visible to every owner — what was spent, who paid, and who still owes. Splits are calculated automatically by ownership percentage or equal shares, and the full history stays open to the crew all season.
Clear roles
SharedVessels gives every member a defined role. Admins approve trips, add owners, and manage boat settings. Owners can request trips, log expenses, and add records. Viewers can read but not change anything. Every trip and every expense is tied to a named member.
Private groups
SharedVessels is built for private co-ownership crews, not charter or rental listings. Your boat's schedule, expenses, and documents are visible only to the members you invite — and to no one outside the group.
Access and data
SharedVessels uses invite-only registration during paid beta. We run scheduled backups. SharedVessels stores user-uploaded documents and photos selected by users. SharedVessels does not sell user data and does not email uploaded documents as attachments in expiry reminders.
SharedVessels uses access controls, backups, and security practices appropriate for a paid beta recordkeeping app. No online service can guarantee protection against all security risks, so groups should keep their own copies of important documents and records.
Important limitations
SharedVessels does not provide legal advice, hold escrow funds, sell insurance, finance boat purchases, or guarantee dispute outcomes. Groups should use appropriate legal, insurance, tax, and financial professionals when needed. SharedVessels is a recordkeeping and coordination tool — it does not replace professional advice or formal agreements between co-owners.
